Bed Rest... Day 6!

Well well, I turned on my computer this morning to find my desktop completely gone - however everything that was in my computer (saved files and such) were saved, as well as everything backed up on my new hard drive (whew). However my internet settings are gone including my bookmarks... had to start all over again, now trying to figure out the webpage for an online bookmark organizer (so I don't have to lose my bookmarks again!!), but I forget the name (nothing new huh). So lots of playing around this morning.

Feeling much better - no fever! Last night I had a serious fit of coughing that left me concerned. I took my last Sudafed I had from the US... that helped me sleep soundly through the night (yayyyy!) but today I need to go out for supplies (medicine, tea...). It looks really nasty outside today. The Alps have been clouded over for several days now, but today everything is just gray outside - no sun can be seen, and it is foggy even in town. Not looking forward to going outside (don't worry I'll bundle up warmly).

Yesterday Daniele came with the promised supply of movies. :-) When he showed up I laughed because it looked like he raided a store's inventory! It was from his collection plus a collection of one of the women at school. :-) I now have an obscenely large collection of movies on my bookshelf waiting to be seen. :-D Last night spent 4 hours watching 13th Warrior (seen already - Antonio Banderas. Mm... it was ok, end left me with questions) and Cars (ha! cute!). Everything was working fine last night which is why I was perplexed why my desktop was gone this morning. hmm.

Anyway, Daniele brought me news - yesterday out of 33 students in the scuola materna (ages 3-4-5), only 7 students were in school! On Monday there were 9, he wasn't sure how many would show up today. And one teacher was at home as well. So, I'm not the only one to be affected. I worried about him being in my germ-infested apartment, but he said he's probably going to get sick anyway next week from the kids. So it was nice to have his company for a short time! :-)

What else... yesterday I organized my desk and bookshelf... took me 30 minutes on account of not having much stuff anyway! I set up pictures on the wall and on the desk, so there's more things to look at. :-) I studied some Italian but I didn't get far... went back and forth on the computer. Today will probably focus on trying to reorganize my bookmarks again while they are still fresh in my memory. :-/ Many work related plus personal! What a loss!!!! :-( I'm just SO happy I have a new external hard drive that has a backup of everything (except obviously the internet settings, pft!).

Last week I bought pastries to send to Elena in thanks for my staying at her house with her family. In showing me places in town I should know, Daniele pointed out this pastry shop that Elena LOVES. When he goes to Roma she has him bring pastries from there. So, I went last week, and unfortunately because I got lost (again, nothing new with me) I arrived after they closed. However the gentle old nonna inside saw me looking for the hours, and ushered me in speaking rapid Italian. When she realized I couldn't understand her, she took me by the arm, still speaking, to a rack of beautifully wrapped boxes, handed me 2 of them in red and blue, and pulled me over to the register, still talking, walked around the counter, and I paid for them, she walked me to the door, still talking, ushered me out, and locked the door. *laughing* I had no idea what I bought! So, anxiously, I sent the box off to Elena last week, and yesterday received an enthusiastic thanks from her who shrieked when she saw the box of pastries. She said her family had to ration off the pastries so that they all would have an even amount!

I had bought 2 boxes, the other for another friend. Curious, and also bolstered by the uncertainty if the pastries were wrapped well enough to survive another week before being shipped off to my friend, I ripped it open. Yup, wrapped twice in cellophane. *oops* well, already opened... the pastries are wafers with chocolate paste inside. mmm. very good indeed. I had 2 with my coffee this morning... Oh, even better! :-D Sorry Libor, I have to buy you another box because this one won't last until you come.

I just don't feel like cooking! I have to eat though. So I better go off and make myself some lunch.

Tomorrow's my last day of rest at home, then Friday back to school!

Milacku, somehow I knew that about the chocolate. I know you too well now :-) Be safe there, always! Love you. Libor

The chocolate was for someone else, then I opened it, told Libor it'd be for him, now... :-/
